Curtiss P-40N (Kittyhawk Mk IV) skinpack, only to be used on the P-40N mod aircraft which is available at sas1946.com (http://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,25646.0.html)
as they will not work properly on other P-40 models due to the skin mapping.

Place these skins in: \IL-2 Sturmovik 1946\PaintSchemes\Skins\P-40N

Template and skins by HBPencil. I used the stock P-40M void as a base from which to build the template and as such some elements of the mech/internals are
retained from that void as my own attempts to improve on them had negligible results.

Many thanks to the team at Axis-&-Allies (www.axis-and-allies-paintworks.com) for their assistance and tips while I worked on this project.

This pack contains 12 skins. 4 are fully marked with another 2 versions of each which are "unmarked" and "blank".

IMPORTANT
You may use these skins freely (provided its for non-profit and/or non-commercial use) and so long as you give credit and leave the credits on the skins
and the file names unchanged. Likewise please do not use these skins in part or in whole to create other skins without giving due credit. Please do not
upload these skins to any website without my permission unless they are bundled with a mission/campaign in which they are used.

If you any questions regarding these skins, or the use of, please dont hesitate to message me at Axis-&-Allies or email me at hbpencil79@hotmail.com

SKIN INFORMATION

All of these skins are based on photos of the real aircraft (all of which were black and white). As these sources provide a limited view of the aircraft (e.g. the
starboard side only without any view of the upper or lower surfaces) a fair bit of guess work and assumption was used in making these skins. The following is
what information I have on the original aircraft on which these skins are based plus any relevent skinning info. Note that these were all armed with 6 guns,
not with the light-weight 4 gun arrangement.

42-105128 "Lulu Belle" of 2nd Lt Philip R. Adair, 89th FS, 80th FG, Nagahuli, India.
This was Adair's second "Lulu Belle", the first (a N-1) being written off in a crash landing and is based on photos which suggest that the national insignia still
retained a red border despite the very late date (early to mid 1944). It was most likely in this aircraft that he scored a double (two Ki-43 Oscars) on 17 May 1944.
Note the extravagant artwork on the wheel covers!

42-105112 "Geronimo" of 1st Lt Bruce Campbell, 45th FS, 15th FG, either Baker, Nanomea or Makin Islands.
The photos I've seen of this aircraft are of it being serviced and as there's a cover of sorts over the cockpit I couldn't see if this aircraft had strike sortie markings
marked under the cockpit as was the practice of this unit. The aircraft looks quite new in the photos however I added some more weathering to the skin as
artistic license. This unit painted its P-40Ns in a non-standard scheme of a "sand" colour over a pale blue. I used AAF Sand 49 as a starting point then faded
and lightened it some more while I used a mix of Insignia White and Insignia Blue to create the colour for the undersides.

A39-607 BU-G of Sqn Ldr John Waddy, 80 Squadron RAAF, Noemfoor.
The 15.5 kills marked on his aircraft are all German and the "VE" marking stands for Victory in Europe (Waddy served in the MTO I believe). I couldn't find any
photos of this aircraft showing the squadron codes on the rear fuselage so I made a guess at what they would've looked like based on other aircraft however
there was a some variation between individual aircraft of this squadron. The white painted on the leading edges extened from the tips right up to the fuselage
however due to mapping issues I felt obliged to end them just outboard of the undercarriage; although inaccurate compared to the real aircraft this style was
used by a number of other 80 Sqn aircraft. Note that this aircraft had some sort of insulation around the exhaust.

NZ3220 "Gloria Lyons", No.4 SU RNZAF, mid to late 1944
Probably the most well known RNZAF fighter of WW2. She survived the war and the scrapheap and is in private storage somewhere near the town of Nelson.
She was the third "Gloria Lyons" and so far as I'm aware wore four different schemes during her life, this being one of later styles. As you will see I've given her
Medium Green splotches on the wing edges which are vary rarely, if ever, portrayed on models and profiles of RNZAF P-40s... and I can only recall seeing
one other skin with them. Yet I figure they must've been there as once the Kiwis started receiving P-40s from the Americans in OD/Neutral Grey all they did
was paint over the stars'n'bars and add the white theater markings. I haven't found a really good shot of the upper wing surfaces of a NZ P-40N (they're all
shot either at a very flat angle or too far away) so I'm willing to bet that the Kiwis, like the Aussies, wouldn't have wasted time and paint erasing the splotches.

Happy flying!
